Hic zodiaci XII sub signis feliciter volvitur terra
A double hemispherical map of the world by Nicolaes van Geelkercken and Jan
Jansson, originally printed in Amsterdam in 1615.
Inserted between Taurus and Orion is “Petit telescope de Herschel”, and next
to Gemini is “Gr.d telescope de Herschel”, the small and large telescopes of
Sir William Herschel. The latter is presumably Herschel’s 40-foot telescope,
the largest in the world at the time, built 1785-1789 and last used in 1815.
Original publication data on eastern hemisphere: “Amstelodami. Excudebat
    Joannes Janssonius, 1615“
Title on western hemisphere: Americae vtriusque septentrionalis et Australis
    typus.
    This Map Comes in Sizes:
    11"x16", 16"x24" and 23"x33"
This map comes with a white border around the image
