    Description

This is a very interesting saber. It seems to be patterned off an 1821 pipe backed saber but is marked at the ricasso with what appears to be a P.D.L stamp for Peter D. Luneschloss, German sword maker. Possible Civil War imported sword. Most early imported swords followed the M1840 pattern calvalry saber, but a few German manufacturers were known to import swords that did not follow the American pattern sword design. This sword has a 28.5" blade that has quite a sharp edge, blade is light and flexible with a slightly bent tip. Overall length is 34". Iron hilt is tight. Wooden grip does have some movement. Definitely unique and not a typical 1821 pattern saber.
