1970 US Mint Set with Clipped Planchet D-Mint Cent As Issued
This item is a pristine, original, 1970 US Mint Set, containing a very pleasant surprise for an error collector—A Clipped Planchet Cent.
This set
contains a curved clip, 1970-D Cent,
Brilliant
Red with the mint-made clip which is hard to miss (except, thank goodness, someone at the mint did miss, as this set was being put together).
While there are millions of mint sets out there, only a slight few have included planchet error coins. They do sometimes come with different denominations coins with clips (Cent through Dollar). They are prized collector finds, due to their double scarcity. And, also, all the other coins in this set are pristine, untouched by humans for 51 years. Please note, the Half Dollar is 40% silver, the Last Year of issue for the 40% composition, and the lowest mintage of the 40% Half series, available ONLY in Mint Sets.
The pictures show the outer envelope ( in this case, it is slightly “shop worn”, with small tears on the corners, and my ID tag), both sides of the red and blue cellos, and close-ups of both sides of the clipped cent. The cellos are both still mint sealed. They are of the actual set the successful bidder will receive.
