2006-12 The SOLAR SYSTEM 8 Planets – National Geographic Map Poster - Home School StudyHow many planets are there?
Our solar system now, again, features eight planets. Although there is some debate within the science community as to whether Pluto should be classified as a planet or a dwarf planet, the International Astronomical Union has decided on the term 'plutoid' as a name for dwarf planets like Pluto, Ceres, and Eris. The map-side of this heavenly study shows the position of the planets, dwarf planets, and certain comets, asteroids, and spacecraft in our solar system as of December 1, 2006 with explanations of ongoing discoveries.
The reverse-side shows the planets and dwarf-planets in order from the sun and in their relative size. It also contains an explanation and facts about each planet.
Map is approximately 31" x 20".
