    Description

Civil War Confederate Made Large D-Guard Bowie Knife
This is an original and scarce and early Civil War Confederate made Large D-Guard Bowie Knife in untouched condition. The knife has a nice handmade blade as shown. The D-Guard is made of an iron and the wood handle is fine throughout. The entire knife measures 25-3/4” long and has a 20-5/8’ blade and the handle is 5” long.
These large size fighting knives were particularly popular with soldiers of the Confederacy and they would tend to have them made by local craftsmen. Numerous Civil War photos exist showing southern volunteers with their muskets and various sized D-Guard Bowie knives. This knife is fresh out of a very old collection.
