Description

Confederate DGuard Bowie in very good condition.It was likely a trophy taken home from battle as it was once silvered long ago.This was often a practice of GAR and UCV lodges for captured weapons hung on the wall for display.It came from an Ohio estate.
It's a massive bowie , having a 14 inch blade that's 2 inches wide at the guard with a 3.5 inch false edge.It's 100% iron with a turned wood walnut? grip. It's pined in the rear.
The blade still has an edge but there's been no modern sharpening. There are no nicks in the blade or cracks in the wood. It's a massive, heavy thick bladed knife. It would certainly be a formidable weapon, even today.I have shown this to two of the best known names in the relic business (especially Confederate edged weapons) . I will provide those highly reconizable names by message to those who are interested. But when you hold it in your hands...you'll know. I will guarantee a 14 day inspection period for returns.
