Here we offer a fine condition US Model 1860 Cavalry sword . The maker is Mansfield & Lamb a fairly rare maker . The hilt is brass mounted . the grip is black leather with all the twisted wires intact and very solid The leather is in fine condition with just a little scuffing from use . You usually find the leather dry and cracked or missing a good portion . The top of the pommel has two inspector stamps , one " DF " the other "DFC" for the inspector David F. Clark who worked from 1861 to 1886. The curved single-edged blade is in fine condition with a little age patina . The obverse ricasso is stamped " US / GGS ( for the inspector G. G. Saunders who worked from 1856 to 1870 ) /1862 " . The reverse ricasso has the stamp of " Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale R. I. It is complete with its iron scabbard in also excellent condition with a little age staining , but no dents I can find. The overall length is 41" with a 35" blade.
