M1840 US CAVALRY SABER & SCABBARD

DA0012L, Stamped US & ADK on 1 side and on the other AMES MFG CO CABOTVILLE & 1850. Most later specimens were marked with the Chicopee Falls Mass address, only 2500 of these earlier Cabotville ones were made, how many have survived? Wood grip intact with it's leather wrapping but much of the brass wire missing now, easy restoration there. 35.5" steel blade is in brown patina, no pitting and no nicks in the cutting edge, point to point length 41", fine brass mountings and original steel scabbard with no dents, though missing the slotted throat, fits snug anyways., overall length sheathed 43", all original, ship weight 5 pounds.
