    Description

Beautifully mellowed, DATED, INSPECTED, MONOGRAMED M1850 Naval Officers Sword Officer's Sword.   Inspected by Robert B Hitchcock (RBH) who inspected arms for the military and is found on M1852
    naval
    models between 1851-1853. Monogramed
    initials
on guard appear to be "JLW" Exhibits significant signs of field wear.  Honest aged wear exudes character.  Gold gild is worn off, but retains a
    lustrous
aged gold/bronze patina.  Scabbard is original to the sword although missing drag and mid-mount screw.  Expected flaking.
The blade is rough with barely discernable etching remaining.  One side of tang marked "1852", the other "P" over "RBH"
Grip retains most original wire over worn and weathered shark skin which is tight and complete.
    Tang appears perfectly unmolested.
Simply a wonderful sword that clearly saw much service and could tell many tales of the high seas no doubt.
