Description
November 1942 copy of The American Girl magazine (Vol. XXV, No. XI), which was published by the Girl Scouts. On the color cover is a wholesome younglady
in Girl Scouts attire, holding her U.S. Defense Savings Bonds stamp album. Given that World War II (WWII) was in full swing, it is not surprising that the magazine also had a banner at the bottom reminding folks to "Buy War Bonds and Stamps NOW." It contains stories, articles, poetry, and Girl Scout features, all designed to be of interest to young female readers. The magazine has a 3c (Scott #901) stamp tied to the front cover, with a cancellation reading November 4, 1942 (York, PA). It also has a handstamp reading "This is the mail for which you sent postage. Advise correspondents or publisher of your correct address." The magazine is in overall very good condition for its age, although there is significant separation of the cover along the spine.
It is a Very Fine piece ready to enhance any collection of U.S. postal history or Girl Scout memorabilia.
