    Description

RARE~1983 THE ALASKA RAILROAD ANNIVERSARY 60 YRS GOING PROUD NENANA TRAIN POSTER. This is an uber rare, state of Alaska issue & commemorative poster for the 1923-1983, 60th anniversary of the Alaska Railroad held in Nenana, July 16, 1983. It was the anniversary of the day President Harding drove in the golden spike (he actually died on the trip home from food poisoning) In January of 1983 President Ronald Reagan signed over the railroad to the State of Alaska. This was not one of the yearly art posters that are often collected but a special issue most likely given to dignitaries, noted people & invited guests. The poster features a silhouette of the men who built the rail on parchment like paper with a large orange circle & an emerging 3015 engine bursting forth on the track. The poster was purchased some years back and is still in the shrink wrap on foam board display from the auction house of which it was purchased. The piece measures 16” x 20” & is ready to frame. I have not removed this from the protective housing & do not see any condition issues to report. Smoke free home. Item will be shipped flat as shown. Careful shipping always! Thanks~Tawny
