RARE Original Civil War Sword DJ Millard Union Cavalry Saber Only 10k Ultra RARE. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
Alright Civil War collectors, here is one you do not see often. Up for sale is the very rare model 1860 cavalry sword. This sword was produced by the rarest maker of D.J. Millard from Clayville New York.
David J Milliard was a successful entrepreneur before the war began, owning and operating the Paris Furnace Company in Clayville. His company produced agricultural equipment such as hay-forks, hoes, scythes, and plow points.
In December of 1861 Millard secured a contract from the US Ordinace dept to produce 10,000 cavalry swords. ONLY 10,001 were produced.
The pommel cap is stamped “CEW” which stands for the armory inspector mark of Charles E. Wilson. Wilson inspected between 1862-1864.
The Ricasso is stamped “WEH” which was the mark of the armory sub-inspector who approved the sword for use by the federal government. Sword is clearly and correctly marked 1862.
This item is guaranteed original to the period.
