US Civil War Horster Solingen Model 1840 NCO Sword w/Scabbard

Description

US Civil War Model 1840 NCO Sword with Scabbard.
The ricasso is marked "Horster" over "Solingen" (the "S" is almost gone). There are no other markings anywhere. The brass grip and guard are tight.
The blade
is straight, unsharpened although the tip is sharp, and there are age spots scattered throughout. The scabbard is solid, most of the stitching is tight, both rivets are missing on the drag piece (it falls off), and the throat piece is loose but will stay on unless you pull it off.
W
asher is intact. Length of the blade is 32 3/8" (15/16" wide and 5/16" thick), the sword is 38 3/4", and overall in the scabbard it is 39 3/8".
