Description
Post US Civil War Model 1860 Staff & Field Sword with Scabbard. Ricasso appears unmarked. The guard, grip, and pommel are all loose. The sharkskin grip shows light wear and is 98% complete. The twisted wire wrap is 100% complete but has broken at the very top by the pommel. The double clamshell has the typical eagle with flags on it on one side and the folding side has a shield with swords, flags, and rifles. The quillon has a lion face on it. The locking button under the folding clamshell is intact and functional but hard to get to because the clamshell is bent. Knuckleguard is slightly bent. The blade is straight, unsharpened, no nicks along the edges, and has surface rust scattered throughout (heaviest on the 12" by the ricasso). The scabbard is solid with three small dents, has some light pitting, and has been painted silver (except the hanger mounts and drag). The washer is missing. Length of the blade measures 29 1/4" (5/8" wide x 1/4" thick), length of the sword is 35 1/2", and overall in the scabbard it is 37 1/4".Check out my other War items!!
